Esteemed colleagues and friends,

On behalf of the local organizing committee I extend to you a warm invitation to the annual congress of the European College of Gerodontology. The congress will take place in Ghent-Belgium on May 19-20th 2011. This congress will be organized in collaboration with the Belgian Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics. The congress venue will be the “Aula” of the University of Ghent-Belgium. It is a pleasure and an honour for Belgium to be able to organize this important event. We hope that by providing pleasant and seamless organization, we will create an environment where all of you will have the opportunity to interact, exchange, share and debate the items of our interest. I hope that you will enjoy the scientific and social aspects of the meeting.

“Oral Health – General Health, A Harmonious Marriage In Advanced Age” are the main themes of this year’s conference, chosen to reflect the necessity to emphasize the bi-directional relation between general health and oral health. Treatment concepts should be based on this relationship, taking into account the social, ethical, physical and mental patient characteristics relevant for clinical decisions.
